  2. 2020 2nd round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
From what I saw Backes wont require retention next year because after July 1st because he only has a base of 1m cash owed. So if not Ottawa then someplace else but they will buy him out and he can go wherever.

Leafs paid a first rounder to get rid of 6.25m cap hit and 3m cash Marleau. The cap hit for Backesis less because a buyout is spread over two years. We'll see if Sens ownership thinks 2m in cash pay out is worth a second rounder. Seems fair to me.

Bjork: His contract will really depend on his current season, whatever he plays in the NHL or the AHL.
Cehlarik: Could even lose him in a week so wait
DeBrusk: prob a bridge deal; hasn't shown he's worth that price
Kuhlman: same as Bjork, depends on his season.
Hard to predict Grzelcyk's deal, like the Coyle one but gotta deserve it. What a discount for Krug.

Fitzgerald, Gaunce, Ritchie, Sherman, Wagner likely gone.

Most of them (AHLers) will take one year deals, some two. And all in the $700K-$800K range, not $925K lol

I think grzelcyks deal ends up looking similar to john moores in terms of aav but bridged out. This also depends on if he takes another huge step and what kind of role he assumes with the team this year. but i think him and debrusk both get bridges. Coyle probably gets a 5 year 5ish mill contract, maybe a little higher but i think between 4.5 and 5.5 is where he should end up. All random guys signed like ritchie, wagner, etc. that arent anything above a 4th liner dont get a contract offer and get a larger contract somewhere else. cant fill the roster with fourth liners like they are doing this year.

If Sweeney give that much money to Grzelcyk, the Bruins have more issues than Playboy.

Grzelcyk has already signed a bridge. He can’t really sign another unless it’s a 1 year deal.

That’s what it will cost to keep the best 5 on 5 left shot d on the team.

Ill rephrase then, i think he takes a short term deal to maximize his earning potential. I dont think as a 3rd pairing guy (advanced analytics and whatever) you can outright ask for 5+m. i mean he might get it but he is still an rfa. I guess he could take his case to arb and hit FA next year (worst case scenario) but idk maybe im wrong. I also dont disagree with you thinking he is our best left shot dman.

I actually don’t really think there’s an argument against it, other than perhaps clinging to Chara. I don’t think that’s realistic, but if you think 5 on 5 Chara is better, I can see that side. There is no argument for Krug over Grzelcyk 5 on 5 however.

I’m curious as to what you mean by advanced analytics here, and which case you think those numbers strengthen.

the ones that say he was the best offensive point producing dman in the playoffs, etc etc basically the advanced analytics that show he should be paid much higher than what his role currently dictates.

Lol, reality check he’s a low end 2nd pair type. ??‍♂️

Watch with your eyes open and you heart not on your sleeve.

If Krug is extended he should be traded. They don’t need 2 undersized guys on the same side and they are likely going to lose him in the expansion draft without making a bad deal to keep him.
