How Id have the roster ranked based off pre-season games

Description
Nygard and Haas really haven't shown anything to warrant an NHL spot at this point. Can they get better by December? Maybe, but it's tough to put together an NHL career in two weeks of pre-season. I hope both go to the minors and work on their game for a month each and then get re-evaluated to see if they can fit in the NA game.

Bouchard might make the team and that means he's in Top 6 and one of Benning or Persson will be 7th D. But if he has a couple bad games, Manning has shown he isn't terrible and will be the 7th d as a place holder. They'll recall the young D and play them over Manning as needed. I think Bear is actually more ready than Bouchard is at this point and if they're graduating one prospect this year it should be Bear based of pre-season.

Benson, Marody, Jones, Bear, Lagesson will get recalled during the season when injuries come up.

Based off camp, Russell and Jurco have been the most impactful/earning the 13th and 14th forward spots on the team.

I think Burdasov has shown better in his 1 game better than Nygard has in 3 games so far.

Still got a hole at 3C. I think Granlund and Chiasson are the wingers but we don't have a 3C.

Also based off camp, McLeod is a better centre prospect than Marody is. And I think Marody would be a better wing than centre in the NHL. Him and Benson simply lack the footspeed but playing on the wing should help some of that. Help but not solve. I'd be willing to package Marody and JP for young established NHLer at this point.

Sucks we didn't get to see Yamamoto in action yet.

Haas hasn't done much but Nygard has created at least 1 HDSC every game with his speed now he just needs to show some finish, Burdasov looks fairly strong and his skating looked a lot better then people made it out to be. Granlund hasn't done much offensively and Khaira has looked like the 2018-19 version more then the 2017-18. I'd say the #2LW spot is still wide open between Burda, Nygard, Gagner and Jurco

I don't know if I've seen Nygard look dangerous at all during pre-season so far. I think Burdasov skating is not as good as Nygards, but he's close and just about better at everything else. You can see he tries to make plays and shoots the puck more than Nygard does. I don't think Gagner is a reliable option for the Top 6. I think he can play with Granlund and Chiasson to start the season.

I like the 2nd line like this. Gags isn’t a Center option anymore imo. Russel should be 7th d and bear ahead of Benning for sure

Do you like Burdi over Nygard as well? Its only been one game but I liked his game yesterday. Gags is def not a centre option, we need a real 3C still and idk how we'll get one and when we do get one, I think Gags and whoever is 2LW and Kassian will be battling for 2 spots.

I'd rather have Russell as 3LD over Jones right now though. It'd be nice if we could trade him for a 3C instead.

I hate to say this, but it looks like you're shaping up to have a top-5 draft pick next June -- along with my hang-dog Kings.

idk, I just haven't been impressed with Nygard and I think he and Burdasov are playing for that 2LW spot. Again, it's only been a game for Burdi so I could be wrong but in that one game, I thought Burdi did more than Nygard has in three games. I guess we'll see.

Maybe Nygard has a spot on 3LW and compete with Granlund? I just think Nygard isn't top 6 material based on what he's shown so far.

Do you guys still think patching holes and not retooling is the answer? This lineup would be lucky to produce 80 points this season.

Is Logan from the 1967 team? You know Logan that we are not the real GM's, I am just saying with what we got, thats what I like. Logan what do you think the lineup should be with what they got considering that we are NOT the actual GM #fakegm

I am not sure what to do with the roster, it's so flawed and I am not sure there is any way to fix it quickly. I'd sell McDavid on a 2-4 year retool and then come back as a powerhouse. Otherwise I have great fear he's going to get sick of losing and demand a trade after his NMC kicks in and if that happens. The return will be heavily reduced and the fan base will be devastated.

Next year D are in great shape, centers are all set, just need wingers. What I don't understand is we had so many D and we just drafted another D, so now they can trade some of our D for wingers next year. Does not make much sense to me, just draft a winger that has really high potential was what I would thought. But I am not as smart as Chia and Holland. Chia who traded some of our decent players away for crap. Hall, Strome and Caguila..... 3 players that would really help our team! Do not need a rebuild, just 2 wingers IMO and a goalie that will be ready next year or half way through this year.

I just don't have as much optimism, I think you have a few pieces but then a bunch of nothing. I'd prefer seeing a lot more talent on the 2nd, and 3rd lines and I really don't like the defence. Larsson isn't very good, Nurse is okay but gets himself in trouble a lot and doesn't look like he can handle top competition. Klefbom can't stay healthy. I do think Bouchard is going to be great but needs time to hone before being given big minutes in the NHL. Other than that and guys who are still years away, I don't see anything that moves the needle much.

Legasson is who I am excited about, Bear looks fantastic so far, Borberg is 2 years away and is lighting it up in Sweden. Yes Bouchard is going to be good, Logan Day is doing great and will be a 6 D, Samarukov is going to be a good 3-4. Jones is going to be a good 5-6. By 2 years most of our D will be replaced! 3 and 4th line players are easy to replace. Yamamoto I dont think will pan out to anything, Lavioe and Mcloud hopefully pan out to a 2nd line wing and 3rd line center. Kirill looks like a first line wing and who I am most excited about. Konovalov is playing with men for 2 years already and he looks like a great prospect. and Benson should be one of the first call ups. That is our prospects. so I am more excited about them than the team currently.

It just never works out that way man. Out of everyone you mentioned, best case 3 guys make the team. More than likely 2. Edmonton doesn't have a track record of succeeding at developing prospects.

You are 100% correct, hopefully we have 3 good ones and we are terrible at prospects, but Holland used to be pretty good at it....FINGERS CROSSED
