Tampa would match but if not that would be great. I think Point takes it but just because he wants Tampa to match so he can get back with his teammates again

Cap wise it's quite the assumption that Ladd is gone of the season and future seasons. And next year the Isles have two big potential expensive RFA contracts...Pulock and Barzel.

Ladd had knee surgery a year ago, just tore his ACL and has had back problems since he arrived on Long Island. I doubt he’ll even pass his physical when he’s fully “healthy”.

Even if he does return, guys like wahlstrom, Ho-sang and dal colle are more deserving of a roster spot. They’ll bury Ladd in BPT (saves 1.25 mill) before he plays over them.

Its the other 3.9M that he's talking about, assuming he does come back. Either way, barring moving out some big contracts, Isles are no longer in the running for OS'ing anyone if they want to have Barzal and others signed to deals next year.

if I had to guess, Ladd will go to robidas island and stay on LTIR for the remainder of his contract. The islanders could offer sheet someone (unlikely), they would have to move out leddy, hickey (8 mill) and buyout clutterbuck next summer.

I think people often forget, players on Robidas island generally want to be there. Not sure Ladd is ready to call the quits yet. Even if he ends up getting injured literally 2 seconds into his game back, the Isles need to make sure enough cap is there for him to come back.

Until he fails his physical and thus tells everyone he's pretty much calling the quits unofficially, they can't assume anything just yet. He could take a year off to really rehabilitate and come back just good enough for camp next year. Unless Lou goes to him and asks him to be LTIR'd and Ladd is ok with that, can't presume he'll be a Robidas island player for the remainder of his contract.

It’s my opinion, but it’s a good thing islanders have bottom 6 players with upside that they won’t put on waivers and lose for nothing. They won’t waive a good player to have a 34 year old injury prone player on their roster. I would be fine with the savings from sending him to Bridgeport. Ladd likely never plays for the islanders again.

Sending a player to the AHL saves a maybe 200,000. Saving is 1.75m minus his 975,000 replacement.

His replacement has a 700k cap hit - I care more about Ladd not being on the NHL roster more than anything. Ladd is making 5.5 mill per probably living in a beautiful neighborhood on Long Island with a family - I highly doubt he’ll last 4 years in the AHL risking further injury and playing for a Calder cup.

The islanders will have no problem signing barzal, pulock. Martin/greiss will be off the books , leddy, hickey trades (8m), buyout clutterbuck,
