Easily could happen if he plays to line with Eichel...

i mean.. he's still a 3rd line forward that's a pending UFA.. i'm not saying the production won't be there. i'm just saying it'll be interesting to the team that trades for him expecting him to be a top contributor. Playing with Eichel and Skinner will inflate his numbers so i wonder if a team will overpay for him.

If he has 16-18 goals at the TDL, I could easily see a 2nd. Kevin Hayes had one year with more goals than Vesey, had only 14 goals at the TDL and the Rangers got Brendan Lemieux, round 1 pick in the 2019 draft (Ville Heinola) and conditional round 4 pick in the 2019 draft.

Yup, the team will be better in 2019-20 than last year, but IMO the Sabres are in a tough conference and division and will need close to 100 pts to make the playoffs.
Give all of the UFA's decent playing time, trade them all at the TDL and build for the future.
Next year, Cozens, Asplund, Thompson, Olofsson etc will be better than Vesey, Sheary, Larsson, Girgensons etc. Continue to draft and trade well, develop the prospects and 2021 could be the year the Sabres finally make the playoffs.

Kevin Hayes also had 40+ points every year, was a center, and was on pace for a 65+ point pace.. i just don't see that from vesey who broke 30 points once in three years. And if you look at the underlying numbers, Vesey just isn't a top six forward. Trust me this is coming from a rangers fan who watched him.. he's so frustrating because he gets so many high quality chances but never finishes them. hopefully you can get that, I just don't see it happening.

I think you are missing the point, Hayes returned MUCH more than a second, was not a prolific goal scorer and only had 14 goals at the TDL. I used him as an example of what GM's will do at the TDL for a player who has 16-18 goals at the TDL. BTW, Lemieux and a 4th is actually pretty close to a 2nd alone. I appreciate that you are a rangers fan so you know Hayes and Vesey far better than I do, but it is not completely impossible that Vesey will return a 2nd at the TDL.

Can you explain 4th and 5th rd picks for Larsson and Girgensons??

At the TDL who knows who may need physical pk forwards. Maybe too much but check out these trades last February:
Oscar Fantenberg to Calgary Flames for conditional round 4 pick (51 gms 4 pts, not a great example as he is a defenseman)
Carl Hagelin to Washington Capitals for round 3 pick in the 2019 (58 gms 19 pts)
Nate Thompson to Montreal Canadians for round 4 pick in the 2019 draft (78 gms 13 pts)
Brian Boyle to Nashville Predators for round 2 pick in the 2019 (73 gms 24 pts)
I think Girgensons and Larsson who are really strong possession forwards could return a 4th or better, therefore a 4th and 5th.

A good semi comparable for vesey would be grabner— a depth player and if you are basing it of only goal scoring, he got a 2nd and a wildcard prospect that was expected to stay in Russia when he had 25 goals at the deadline. I don’t think you got my point about Hayes though, he was a center which is more valuable, had great underlying numbers and was on pace for 67 points. That’s a very solid second line center. Vesey just hasn’t brought his game to THAT level where he’s a difference maker like Hayes was for the rangers. I hope you guys get a second for him because that’ll mean that all three New York teams are on the rise. But as I’ve said he’s more of a complimentary player rather than a play driver and he’s a winger. He is on a pretty cheap contract but most teams could get someone else from their prospect system or elsewhere for cheaper. If vesey has 25 goals by the deadline he will probably fetch a 2nd rounder, but you’ll learn that his luck just doesn’t exist. Hell score on goals when you are like how did that go in, but miss on shots when he has an open net (he’ll hit the post or miss the net)

Anyone who has 25 goals at the TDL will return a first and more (on pace for almost 35, only 20 players in the NHL had more than that). 16-18 goals at the TDL will easily return a 2nd.
