Not sure if it's with MN or not... but the Wild beat writer just tweeted about it. He has broken national news in the past, but he very rarely tweets about transactions not involving the Wild. Tweet linked in the comments.

EDIT: Man, you guys took this really seriously. I'm just guessing that IF Faulk is moved to MN, then Pateryn would almost have to go back to Carolina. I'm not trying to say this is a 1 for 1, or even that Faulk is coming to MN, ONLY that Pateryn would likely go to Carolina if Faulk is traded here. In this hypothetical, there could be other pieces involved since Faulk is obviously better than Pateryn.

Why would they want Pateryn? I like Pateryn, but the Canes are comically stacked on D. The trade would be for a forward or for picks/prospects.

That would be a high price to pay. I'm not insinuating that Faulk for Pateryn 1 for 1 is fair, just that if Faulk is traded to MN then Pateryn would have to go to CAR

See the edit to the trade. I'm not trying to say that Carolina would want Pateryn, just that Pateryn almost has to go back to Carolina if Faulk truly is traded to MN. but I agree, Pateryn for Faulk doesn't make a lot of sense for the Canes.

Has Faulk ever played on the left? I could see them bringing him in if Brodin is on his way out, but with the Spurgeon extension and Dumba signed for 4 more years it's hard to understand why they'd want him unless it's to flip him for a forward somehow.

My guess is Winnipeg is the best fit for Faulk, maybe for their 1st? Good trade for Carolina to have 3 1st round picks in a draft that's supposed to be deep.

Faulk to Winnipeg makes a ton of sense. Carolina apparently needs right shot forwards like the Wild do, so maybe they move him for Roslovic or something. I could see a pick too.

We should have traded Nino for Faulk instead of Rask. I proposed that idea a million times last summer, but alas Fenton opted for the $4M AHL player...

Regarding the unlikelihood of Carolina wanting Pateryn in return, factor in the fact that they put Roland McKeown on waivers.

They apparently were interested in Honka, so I don't think it's the most far fetched thing in the world that they go after another RD assuming that rumor was true, but it still wouldn't make a lot of sense. We will see I guess, usually when Russo tweets stuff like that there's breaking news within 30 minutes to an hour of his initial tweet.
