Description
Almost 100% not true, but wonder how far off the value is.

If we somehow pull this off, I would think Habs might rather get Laine locked into a bridge deal for now...

Lol. Your fan base will rip Laine apart if he ever ends up in Montreal.

Laine can't even crack the first line on the Habs. No wonder he sinks his life in Fortnite

Talks with Anaheim and Faulk on an extension has stalled a little bit and Carolina does not want to wait. It has already been reported today that Canes management has asked Brind'Amour to sit Faulk out of exhibition games. Anyway, this may come to be nothing, but Canadiens are trying to acquire Justin Faulk. I have no idea what they would send back.

Where did you see that MTL was trying to get Faulk? Link?

I spoke to Elliot Friedman this morning, and I believe he posted it somewhere. Elliot's a pretty decent guy, if the Canes are still in active discussions with Anaheim, or rather, they are trying to work out an extension with Faulk, he may not have posted this info yet. Anyway, I heard it from him. Expect something to happen with Faulk within the next week.

But why, though? MTL's top 2 RHD slots are filled and they aren't acquiring Faulk for the 3rd pair, as he would cost more than what a 3rd pair D would normally cost. Also, Weber and Petry aren't going to be moved this year. This pursuit makes no sense.

Have to agree that it makes little sense unless the Habs are trying to trade Petry to acquire Laine? but...

I cannot answer why Bergevin does the things he does, but I will say that for all the things I don't like about Faulk, as a third line pairing this season, he would certainly make the Habs a stronger team offensively. Also, keep in mind that Petry's contract is up in 2 years, so if they were able to get Faulk signed to an extension, he would slot in the top-4 in future seasons.

Just a quick update, as I am sure you will see for yourselves shortly, St. Louis has officially acquired Justin Faulk.

Yup - and signed him to a long and somewhat expensive contract. I'd rather Petry for 2 more years and then let the kids play
