I would be silly to say the Leafs miss the playoffs with that sort of FWD firepower.
I could also see some regression from the FWDs as I think the league will have a lot less scoring this year.
Not a lot of NHL quality depth and after Reilly and Barrie...not much there on the back end.
I'm gonna go wildcard team. Another 1st round exit.
Rielly Barrie and Muzzin
Will be interesting to see how Rielly and Ceci play together tomorrow on what should be a more finalized roster. To me ceci could go either way.
Sandin looks very good and then it’s just a matter of pairing him up with someone till Dermott gets back.
I think the worst case scenario is ceci on a bottom pair with Marincin and a top four of muzzin/ Barrie Rielly/Dermott.
Matthews back with Nylander will be a huge boost on that line. The Tavares line may regress this year. Not saying they won’t be good but last year was pretty amazing.
The bottom 6 is still a work in progress but that will be tinkered with.
The competition in the Atlantic will be insane. I could certainly see them taking 5 spots in the playoffs.
I have no reason to hate the isles, I just think it’s really obvious that they overachieved last year and had unsustainably good goaltending. Back to reality: when you rely on boychuk and Leddy, you aren’t going to win a lot of hockey games.

Haters gonna hate
Also, the goaltending. Not signing Lehner is a head scratcher. It really doesn’t make sense and after winning what he did and nominated for a couple things, you’d think he’d atleast get that 1 year Chicago offered him.
We cannot say Varma is replacement, he will not put anything above .915 sv% and Lehner had a above .600 quality start percentage; I do not see Varma being able to be above .600.
