Why do the Blues need Faulk? Can anyone explain other than they're worried of losing Petro?

I think that's too much money. I don't think he's worth this much.

Too much money for way, way too long. Faulk is extremely overrated.
And as others have mentioned, what does this mean for Pietro?

I'm ok with the AAV, but feel the term is a little long considering this contract doesn't kick in until the start of next season when he's 28.

Thankfully Burke is not incharge (and we can't really). I doubt he'd come to Toronto for a similar deal to what he has now but on a 3 year deal. Not likely at all.

That's the only explanation I can think of. Petro will cost north of 8 so that's why.

Here's another clue to Pietrangelo leaving: 6.5M for Faulk ... whose contract is up in a year at 6.5M?

Not saying Petro is leaving, just pointing this out.

As a Canes fan, I'm so happy for Justin. If you have to leave a great situation in Carolina, go get huge money and term from the defending Cup champs and play there for the rest of your career. Screw going to the last place Ducks or the collapsing Jets.

I'm a Blues fan and have been saying for a year Petro is leaving when his contract is up. I don't like thr idea of replacing him for Faulk though.

Isn't giving Pietrangelo a reasonable contract (7x8.5 or something) much better than overpaying for Faulk?

Pietrangelo may not be asking for a "reasonable" deal, you see.

Still, isn't overpaying for Pietrangelo (which I think is unlikely, considering he's quite underappreciated) much better than overpaying for Faulk?

Yeup. IMO 5.5m TOPS for Faulk. 6.5 is wayyyy to much and dont even get me started on the term. IDK how Faulker got away with this one. Will miss him though frown

I think this is a bad deal, and this is probably for trading Pietrangelo.
