I mostly agree with you, but I've also seen Shattenkirk and Stastny get traded in their contract years when the team hadn't convinced Armstrong that they were legitimate contenders. TBH it was those moves that gave us the draft capital to add Schenn and ROR, so I would think that Armstrong knows that trading Petro could be worthwhile. We just don't know what's happening with (a) the Petro extension negotiation and (b) the Blues cup aspirations. So right now you might say "there's no way" but in February you might say "if we have to".

Eaves is done for the season and had barely played in the last 3 yrs. Kesler is out for the year and probably done too.

I agree with that but if they were to trade him Toronto could make a decent offer
