Virtanen is clearly the best player in this trade.. what incentive is there for the Canucks to do this deal?

And the Canucks are ADDING cap with this trade.. sending 3.15 in Virtanen and Schaller and taking on 3.5 in Johnson and Simon... in what world does this make sense????

Let's not get into whether Virtanen is the best player in this deal or any other evaluation of the respective forwards, but just assume that Virtanen = Simon.

Then logically you're saying that Schaller = the third-round pick and Johnson plus his retention.

It seems to me that Johnson and his retention = the third-round pick.

So what does Schaller have to do with this? Not to mention the fact that Vancouver is over the cap right now and this trade adds cap.

In hindsight this was a bad thread on my end because I didn’t do my due diligence on Vancouver’s cap situation. The only way this could happen is through a series of trades on Pittsburgh’s end that results in PIT trading Simon for Virtanen.

You aren't the first to make a mistake on this website and you won't be the last, and I made several such errors well before you. Just keep thinking and keep posting.
