I can't see a team giving him that term and money at his age

Maybe or maybe not. I could see $9M too, but the bottom line also, is the cap is not going up more then $2M from this year and could even be flat.

Aside from Doughty and Burns, all those teams are regretting giving out those contracts. Mcdonagh signed for much cheaper than the others. If Pietro gets 7 no way he gets double digits

Any team needing a top pair RD (Toronto included) will line up to pay him that much. The term is something he will demand simply because of his age and the need for contract security.

Edmonton, Winnipeg (if buff retired), ottawa, islanders, Philadelphia, Los Angeles. Vegas (could use a number one defenseman with cap management) buffalo

Nope... not gonna happen. If petro dmfeels he has made his money and the trend of paying young players continues maybe a Petro deal could be struck at a reasonable price. I think petro is amazing... but 9-10m for a player at that age may not be wise. I would be looking to see who picks him up and maybe scoring an rhd from that team for a smaller cost.

Burns is aging like wine but there’s still plenty of time to regret that contract. I have a feeling that doughty May go the same way.

We will see bit i made a clear statements here i guarantee you that if he hits the market his summer he gets at least 9,5 millions avv on 7 years. Mark it on your calendar. Defenseman who skate well are aging well in nhl he will play at high level until 40.

Pull the wool off your eyes. I’m a Blues fan I’m telling you. His defense is so bad that he ISN’T worth 9M I wouldn’t even put him over 8.5M.

He will get 9,5 at least for
7 years on the market that clear. Even if is not worth it that the free agent market. Team overpay. Its have been like that and it will be like that. So like it or not he will past go and take home a big amount of money

I’ll take your word right to the bank. So what do you think is going on? Do they ride a wicked right side this season, and let petro walk?

9 million on 5 years seems good.

Kings will be regretting that deal to Doughty and Sharks will be regretting the deal to Burns and Karlsson and probably even Vlasic.
All 3 have many years on their deals sti remaining and Sharks dont cup to show for it yet but at least Kings do.

Its possible some overpays Pietrangelo but maybe GMS will smarten up and not?

Friedman is an idiot...nothing he says is worth much weight. This literally flies in the face of all other rumors.

I'm sure he got that number from somewhere. He didn't just make it up. He said that was the estimate from "last week’s Board of Governors meeting."
