Dubas would be fired on the spot if he ever made this deal. Rielly is a top 10-15 defenseman in the league, Girard is a pretty good top 4 defenseman. They are not worth the same thing.

This is interesting IMO.

Maybe change 6th to a 4th and I might do it for cap reasons.
Girard looks like a solid D.

With goaltending and D an issue long term this makes some sense.

Who thinks we can afford Rielly and Andersen after their current deals?

Girard maybe a solid defenseman, but Reilly out up a Norris candidacy season last year.... and the Leafs give up a better draft pick to boot?

Gotta ask: is Sakic throwing in a tube of KY as well?, cuz that's exactly how bad that deal is.

Actually it is quite possible imo. Corps is signed long term. Andersson sees a raise, but I think it can work. As it sits now, Leafs have $30 million in cap space to figure out Reilly, Kapanen and Johansson...... and that excludes Seattle and a US TV-Streaming deal.

Maybe a gamble, but I gotta think the room will be there.

What Swinney said. And we might even have a Murray /Fluery situation by then if one of Scott or Woll pan out and Andy asks for the going rate of a top notch ufa goalie.

Either way. I cant see us losing Reilly.
