Why Hasn't Any Team Signed Laine to an Offer Sheet?

Doesn't he want out of WPG? Don't several teams need an elite goal scoring Winger? How about teams like LAK, ANA, CBJ, or NYI? They all have the cap space. If their was ever an opportunity to utilize the Offer Sheet wouldn't now be a perfect time? I would offer 7 years at a minimum of $9.5M in a heartbeat! What's the holdup? At the very least, he'd force WPG's hand and start the season in the NHL instead of playing video games in Swiss.

Anyone have any insights?

While the Isles have cap space this year, they might not when trying to sign Barzel and Pulock next season. LAK, Ducks and CBJ could very well be lottery teams even with Laine. Think they are holding onto their "powder"....cap and picks for other players ....unknown at this time instead of spending so much for one player Laine.
It's Laine choice to watch video games. He's been offered at least a multiple of contracts from one NHL team....the Jets. Trouba wanted out of Winnipeg (not necessarily the Jets) and after his three ELCs seasons, He went to short term contracts so he could gain UFA freedom at the earliest. Laine has that choice too. As a member of the NHLPA he has agreed to rules of RESTRICTIVE free agency. He can also play in Switzerland or for millions less...his choice.

Laine may have been offer sheeted. He does ultimately have to sign it. If he is holding out for a specific number and term and teams arent getting that to him its his choice to not sign the offers.

only a handful of teams could offer him a significant contract that would be (to him) worth signing, and even then he would need to accept.
