Not necessarily overpaid, it's the term. Seabrook is overpaid and has too long a contract. Keith has 4 years left at a somewhat high salary.

In 4 years the Hawks will wish they had Turcotte just as Toews's contract comes up.

Well, depends on how you look at it. I’ll break into two categories: who he is and who he isn’t.

Who he is is a 6’4’ player who plays like he’s 5’8’. He’s blessed with great size but has no clue how to use it. He has great hands, but lacks any great speed to put them to good use at times. People say he’s a future two way center, and he does strip pucks well at times. However, a huge problem with him is his lack drive, effort, or tenacity. He’s essentially got the touch and vision of getzlaf with none of getzlaf’s work rate. Also, he might be lindros 2.0 if concussions and not protecting himself come to the forefront.

Now who he isn’t. This is much simpler. Turcotte is an absolute monster. I’ve seen this kid on many occasions live and the kid plays at 100 mph and never lets up. Skill, drive, and pure tenacity make him a perfect heir to toews. However, I’d argue that he’ll be better than toews because his scoring ability is even better than toews. Then there’s byram, and this guy is on another level. He makes everything on defense seem mellow and relaxed to the point that I wonder if he ever panics. He’s a sure fire #1 dman on a team that will dominate for years to come if they keep themselves together. Put it this way, for six times a year, dach has gotta deal with byram, not the other way around.

yeah all hes done is tear up every prospect and preseason scrimmage hes been apart of, then he takes a dirty hit and suddenly hes a bad player. Let the kid play 9 before you call for his head. Picking dach was far from the worst thing bowman has done in his tenure, let alone this offseason.

“tear up” is such an over exaggeration. he was very good the first half of last season and completely fell apart. turcotte, zegras, boldy, byram, newhook, etc. all would’ve been smarter picks lol
