Average minutes last year:
Petro 24:05
Parayko 22:47
Faulk 22:25

I have a feeling that the right move is to push one of them to the left side or else we're not getting our bang for the buck (meant literally when Faulk's extension kicks in next year). Obviously there are score effects and the Blues do a good job of changing the pairings when defending a lead / trying to score. But I think the top four needs to be some version of Dunn-Pietrangelo, Faulk-Parayko until the score effects alter things.

I was gonna say something similar. They should also call Carolina again and see what they can get for Jake Allen. They need that cap space next season for pietrangelos raise

Yeah, that money has to come from somewhere, whether it's trading Allen, buying out Steen (unlikely, Army doesn't use buy outs), trading Perron or Bozak, bridging Dunn, etc.. It's the most puzzling part of the Faulk trade... why give him Petro's money?

I would counter argue that there are many ways to get their minutes to the standard 22-24 minutes per game. Parayko/Bouw became a shutdown pairing and will likely feature heavily on the PK. While Faulk can get extra minutes from manning the #1 on the PP. Obviously, some shifts we may have Petro/dunn and Parayko/Faulk if we are down a goal or two.

This is true. I just hope he steals minutes from Bouwmeester and Bortuzzo, not Pietrangelo and Dunn. Looking forward to a new QB on PP1, and although I thought Dunn could handle it, this move might end up getting us a lower cap hit on Dunn's deal since he probably isn't gonna put up huge point totals.

I disagree that it's necessary to shove them all in the top two pairings. J-Bo and Parayko are a locked duo for me. When Gunny plays, he'll likely be with Petro.

I'd rather see them use this as an excuse to manage the regular season minutes of Petro and Parayko a bit while also continuing to develop Dunn in a decent share of sheltered minutes. And I'm assuming that's how things will shake out early in the season.
