Hawks don't need any defensive depth, we have plenty that are fighting to make the lineup so Djoos is not worth much of anything. Perreault is a cap dump to the Hawks, no way are we taking on that contract. You'd be better off offering a 2nd rounder straight up, but even then, the Hawks need Murphy this year until Boqvist and Ian Mitchell are ready.

Honestly would take a first from WPG if they wanted to bundle a deal for Matta and Murphy.

I think it all depends on how you view Connor Murphy. I view him as a reliable back end guy if hes in the right matchups, but might have to be moved in order to make room for Boqvist/sign debrincat and strome. If you view that he has to be moved in order to make room for the signings, I think this isnt the worst trade, given Perrault has a similar cap hit but for one less year. All in all, I wouldnt do it, but its not a particularly flawed trade given the circumstances. If we are talking pure value wise, I dont think its great but its not bad, given the second round pick and a cheap 3rd pairing guy in Djoos coming back. Either way, dont think Murphy is getting traded this season. If you call back next June though hes probably on the table.

What about Murphy and one of Koekkoek / Dahlstrom (depth LD) in exchange for Kulikov and a first?
