This team would be soooo much better if you could trade 2 of Bozak/Steen/Allen for cap space then resign Petro and promote Kyrou/Kostin.

Get rid of Jake Allen and let Bouwmeester retire then just hope Pietrangelo will take a discount to stay.
Best case would be to find a taker for someone to take Steens last year. Then you'd have plenty to resign Pietrangelo

Yes but i highly doubt they signed Faulk to 7 years at 6.5m to play on the 3rd pair.

Only way the Faulk trade makes sense is if they plan on having one of the 3 RD's play on the left side. No way they're gonna let their captain walk right?

Perron, Bozak, Steen, or Allen can be traded, probably in that order, to open up enough cap for Petro at 9 million. Moving Perron is the easiest to do (5-team no trade list) and the easiest to replace (with Kyrou/Kostin/Blais). Moving Bozak (10-team no trade list) might require some retained money, but no sweetener, for his last year. Moving Steen (NTC) or Allen might require a sweetener, at which point you have to consider the buyout option. All of these options are better than losing Pietrangelo because of the cap.

Him being traded or not resigned has been a rumor now for 2 seasons. Hopefully you're right though. Them losing Pietrangelo could be a very bad thing for this team.

Yes but you don't want to trade a player like Perron when you are a contender. He has been a solid piece and a great playoff performer.

For sure, but if you look at the trade as the big picture - Perron for Pietrangelo + Kyrou + whatever pick you can get in the trade - it's a necessary move. And I'm talking about in the summer of 2020, at which point you have to make room for Kyrou or Kostin to see what you have in those guys.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the blues and hope they let Pietrangelo go and the team collapses. I just enjoy the hockey talk. Haha

They could probably find a taker for Allen when he has one year remaining, I don't see Steen or Bozak going anywhere. Is it possible they plan on resigning Pietrangelo and having one of Parayko, Pietrangelo or Faulk play on the left side?

Or maybe Parayko becomes a trade chip??

I could see Parayko being a left side guy. If none of the guys can play left than the only alternative would be trading one of them like you mentioned.

Hopefully not. This is just a look without him.
