Fixing MTL PP

Created by: Billy739

Description
Tatar only had 8 PP points last year in a career high outing as his strength is at even strength and PK there will still be tons of teams looking to address those issues . (most obvious team needing help in those area's is DAL )

you dont fix the PP by trading Drouin our PP leader last year. you do so by moving out other players who've value.

Of the players reasonably available for the right price Edler , Zuccarello and Koivu are MTL best bets to infect 15 extra PP points minimum . given 2/3 were UFA's who signed elsewhere i want to focus on Koivu .

Now Kotkanemi's looked out of place thus far this year really struggling at a Center role with only 1 game he won 50% faceoffs or more .Bring in Koivu for the final year of his contract gives KK a chance to re-set and learn how to be a big bodied possession Center in the NHL from one of his idol's . (as per habs tv interview)

Koivu is still a Dominant Faceoff Center and PP Performer but we're looking for him to be a mentor to KK and help our 19 year old Center Prospect grow more quickly .

MIN would treat this more like a Rental after his ACL injury it will be a season for him to adjust rather then Lead top line in MIN . They plan on bringing Koivu back but knows there is value in the experience he can impart and the points he can add on PP to a team that needs it .

Poehling comes back he can play 4th line , middle 6 RW with Suzuki or spend time in the AHL this season depending on how bad the Concussion is .
Trades

Giving Koivu’s injury history, this deal is insane. I understand the presence of a veteran, but clearly there must be somebody available in the league, which Montreal wouldn’t need to give up their picks.

I like the Koivu trade, and Hudson would have some value on Min lots of holes to fill over there. Could put Peca or Weise in that trade too with a 3rd round pick. Likely not enough. Don't trade Tatar.

Trading Tatar is part of the bigger picture giving us enough cap to lock up Domi this year and Danault and Gallagher the year after .

Sundqvist is an extremely Physical RW/C who i think would fill the role Shaw did for him last year .
the pick is to recoop what we gave up for Koivu to come in and do for Kotkanemi what Shaw did for Danault and Domi (Shaw helped them bare the burden of faceoffs for both when they first jumped to Center)

i started him on 4th line purely because i want to give Suzuki the first 9 games to claim the spot before demoting him to 3rd with KK and Koivu .It seemed only Fair because he's played well this camp.

i probably shoulda just made it Hudon and a 1st for Koivu then Tatar for a 1st and a B+ prospect like Mathew Highmore .
i just wanted Sundqvist in the end because he fits Claude Juliens system

not with his ability to step into MTL as the 2nd best PP producer by Proxy
Jeff Carter is about the next closest player that fits all the things we need
i suppose that could work and be cheaper but i like Koivu because he's a better PP player by a significant margin over Carter

Saad would also work as well as Carter with similar PP production and potential to do more in the right position beside Domi and Suzuki for example he could be lethal on the PP
