I think this is close, but it would need to include a 1st and if not, one of their top prospects

This would have the added benefit of heightening the Matthews / Laine 2016 draft dynamic since they would play each other a lot.

I actually agree with you. When I first looked i thought the picks were better
I struggle with Laine's value. I know he has tremendous value based on potential, but right here right now as an RFA what is he worth?

He’s gonna get a contract around 2x6.25. He’s not gonna be an RFA much longer.

Drouin, Suzuki/Poehling and a 1st would be an excellent package. Maybe have them throw in a defensive prospect

I think that is the best for the jets and Laine. Keeps the cost down for the jets for the next two years and he's still an RFA. If he lights it up and doesnt want to play for the jets any longer then they can deal for him a nice package. If he lights it up and wants to be a jet, he'll have earned the contract. And I guess if he sucks then he only sucks for 2 years
