3-way with EDM and MIN

Created by: math731
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2019
Published: Sep. 26, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
EDM : They are looking for depth offensively and getting a guy like Drouin who could explodes next to Drai and McD as well as a solid forward prospect and a guy that has played well recently in preseason might be worth it for them.

MIN : Dreger recently said that Guerin was looking for a 1-2 C. They're getting one in Nuge.

MTL : MB needs to make space for Poehling and Suzuki. Trading Drouin and getting back a great prospect like Boldy is the best case scenario.

Not a bad idea, with Minnesota I'd try to get LHD Brodin in the deal as well (instead of that 2nd) and find a way to balance it out with MTL sending back Kulak or something. That would really help MTLs D!

How does this make any sense for EDM? They do need depth offensively but trading their 2nd line center to get it is not the way to do it.

The Oilers would be better off to just deal RNH to the Wild themselves and leave the Habs out, could get a better package from the Wild if they really want Nuge.

Steep price for Minnesota and ultimately stupid because Boldy looks to be a nice piece for their future but it does fit in with their owner wanting them to try to win now and it does address a huge need.

@TanSor @MNBassman @Wildwinswhen Thoughts? I feel like instead of the 2nd, I'd want a roster player (Ek?) to go out to help clear up the number of forwards they currently have to make a spot for Nuge.

They also don't have a roster spot unless they want to sit someone who should be playing. A roster forward would likely need to go for cap and roster considerations, probably instead of the 2nd.

I'm confused why the MN second is traded to MTL then traded back to MN? Is that just to show it could be either the 2nd or JEE as @JayTea suggested?

As for the trade.... eh. I like Nuge but giving up Boldy is a big no-no IMO, especially since RNH is only signed for 2 more years. I'd rather just wait out Boldy's development,

Me too, my look at the deal was more of what might the organization do. The only 2 prospects that give me any hope they might be good is Kaprizov and Boldy and I wouldn't trade either personally. Just not sure Leipold and Guerin have a longer view or if they're dead set on trying to win now with Suter, Parise, Zuccarello, and Spurgeon.

I agree. This could work with giving up Ek and a different prospect (Gerry time?), but there's no way we could trade Boldy or Kaprizov. I'd even consider Ek and Pateryn for RNH, before I'd trade our main prospects.

I liked RNH all summer as a good guy to target. Hopefully Guerin can find a way.
