Last night nightmare analysis

Description
The game last night showed just how horrible our defense still is and how Colliton doesn't know how to make good line combinations.

Ten takeaways from last night:
1. Strome is starting to win face-offs
2. Seabs forgot where to position himself in the defensive zone
3. Maatta skates like he's dragging a piano behind him
4. Boqvist needs to settle down his play. He's too exited when he gets the puck and ends up making the wrong play
5. Toews looked good especially when taking the puck into the o-zone but needs Kane to finish the play
6. The best line was Saad-Shaw-Kubalik
7. Koekkoek played supriselgy well
8. Carpenter played very well and looks to be a great bottom six addition
9. Crawfords reflexes have worsen. He looks old and tired
10. Standout players from last night- Kubalik, Toews, Shaw, Carpenter, and Kampf

Lines below are what I think would preform best based on last nights performance
Recommended moves:
-Trade Maatta for a speedy top six defenseman preferably around 28 years old or younger
-Keep Boqvist in the AHL for the season so he gets consistent playing time
-Keep Saad in a top nine role and hope he can produce or trade him for a less expensive top 9 player with a similar playing style
-If Maatta is not traded, either have him or Seabs playing that game not both. (Healthy scratch one of them)

I could only watch the 1st and 2nd last night because it was too painful.

I think it is unfair to have judgement about individuals last night when the my entire team was making sloppy and careless mistakes.

Maatta does look slow, but I noticed him in other preseason games and thought he played just fine. He knows he won’t beat guys with his speed and he used his body to protect the puck along the boards and make a breakout pass.

I wasn’t watching that closely last night but the entire team looked like they were out for a public skate.

It might just be me, but O didn't like the look of the Strome-Kane-Cat line.

Keep in mind that it's still the pre-season and guys are working out the kinks. Specially Crow. He looks and plays like he hasn't played in 8 months... This is why you have Lehner. Won't save you every night from Seabrook and Maata, though...

You forgot...Nylander looks horrible anytime he doesn't have the puck and even when he does...as soon as he passes or shoots he hesitates every single time on his next stride. The guy doesn't belong in the NHL at this point.
