Most likely trade scenerio to getting rid of Johnson is 1st+Hallander or something close to that.

So our best prospect and a first for a bit over 8 mil dead cap (assuming he's buried all 4 years which he probably won't) AND that's spread out over 4 years so it's MUCH more manageable than 6 mil in one year which cost and first... And most people said that was an overpay by TOR...

No...no it won’t. Not even close to that much lol. People seem to think the pens are in this dire situation to trade him. Why would the pens give up a first and their top prospect just to get rid of Johnson when they could bury him and do it for free to gain the cap space needed lol

They can do that. I'm just saying, not team is taking one of the worst contracts in the NHL for crap. It will cost a lot.

I’d bet it won’t. His buyout isn’t bad, his contract is far from the worst contract in the nhl.

I guarantee you it will cost the value of a 1st or a high prospect. Doubtful you get away with it by just adding Rust or something. But hey, there are some dumb GMs out there so who knows.

And it is one of the worst. $3.25M for a 6/7 defender for 4 more years. That's pretty brutal in a cap tight league. I'd say it's top 5 bad.

Those are all considerably worse and harder to move. So not even close to top 5 worst contracts to move. And no I bet they won’t have to move a 1st or top prospect. They wouldn’t even be discussing trading him still if it were that high of a price. They’d be better off burying him, trading Schultz, trading Gudbranson, trading Rust, or trading Bjugstad instead for the cap room.
The only way it would be a 1st or top prospect is if the pens were desperate to move it and no teams out there are desperate for defensemen. Neither are the case.

I... I don't even know what to say. You honestly believe Johnson's contract is better than some of those players? You have to be kidding. Do you not really who Johnsons is? He's a #7 defensemen getting paid $3.25M for 4 more years. Most of the guys you listed are getting paid too much but at least they can play. You're insane if you don't take 95% of those guys over Johnson.

"They were not close to trading him as of Wednesday night. Multiple team and a league source said 'nothing was going on' involving Johnson, who is in the second of a five-year deal he signed with Pittsburgh in July 2018."

Nobody wants Johnson. If you want to get rid of him and his terrible contract you'll have to pay a heavy price. But like I said earlier, find a bad GM and you could make it work.

What are you talking about? Jack Johnson is a 6th defensemen. You literally said that in the post prior. Then when I name all those worse contracts, suddenly he is now a 7th defenseman.
The only reason why a lot of those other players play, is because their contracts are so bad that they can’t be healthy scratches.
Johnson literally played every single regular season game last year and only missed 1 game overall.

6/7 whatever. It's way too much for a 32 year old defensemen that's only getting worse for 4 more years. If he's a #6 now, he won't be much longer. He's set to be a healthy scratch to start the year.

Yeah he played every game and he was gosh awful. Very very very few guys on that list would be healthy scratch if they were getting paid less.
