CBJ FANS

Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2019
Published: Sep. 26, 2019

Description
THIS ISN'T A ONE FOR ONE. I am just floating an idea. Both of these players are highly skilled and both are struggling. the upside and talent is obv higher with Drouin. Both players imo could use a change of scenery. Thoughts?

Their struggles are totally different In scale. Drouin is inconsistent, but he's a 50 pt guy, who has the skill to be much higher than that if he gets on track.

Wenneberg is struggling to even be an everyday NHL player. If he continues on his downward trajectory, he'll end up being bought out or buried In the Minors.

CBJ accepts.
Wenneberg is a good player. I think he's doesn't get along with Torts. End of story.

IMO Drouin wouldn’t be the right player coming back. Wennberg won’t play torts style of hockey. Drouin won’t play Defence either. I’d rather get someone like Thompson or Byron coming back.

I don’t disagree that Wennberg doesn’t like torts, but I can’t see Drouin being any better with Torts

I don't think they do. Wennburg is a steal waiting to happen.
It's about the player at some point not the production.
They mismanaged Wennburg, slid him down the roster chasing high end talent, left him with wingers that don't fit his style and expected him to be something he's not.
If they did the same to Drouin you would have the same results.

me either really, but it's a talent evaluation.

Torts doesn't do well with a lot of players. Vets don't want to hear it from someone who ain't never done it. Skilled players are tired of hearing someone who can barely skate tell them how to play.
I don't blame either it is what it is. The man never played one game at the NHL level and it wasn't because he got held back from injury or something. He simply wasn't a good hockey player.
You add that with his attitude and he's all of 5'6 100lbs barking and people tune him out.
If he changed his style of approaching people I think he'd be better and players wouldn't feel the same. But he thinks he has to be that way to get something out of them.

I think you’re off base a little. Tons of guys love him. Some hate him. Just happens, personalities clash

He's been run out of town by multiple teams, basically through the locker room.
I wouldn't go as far as to say tons of guys love him.
I think there are players who appreciate what he does because they need that for them to become the player they become. Much like the military does to some people. But make no mistake most people aren't putting up with it.
Just imagine sitting at your job and having someone who's never done it standing there yelling at you on how to do it. How well would you think that goes over?

I can assure the majority of the CBJ room likes him. He stands up for them and fights for them. I don’t care what happened in NY or Vancouver or even TB, there are more Torts fans in the locker room than not

yeah I don't know about that. It's clear there were some fall outs there. He clearly lost the vets. Foligno, Dubinsky, and Jenner since they took him under their wing.
He also lost Bob, which is huge.
You can't really say, because neither of us is in there. But from what leaks out I think that's clear.
Now one might say, it doesn't really matter they have shrinking roles now. But if it effects them, it also has effects on the younger players too you just aren't hearing about it. Looking at Wennburg is probably another good example of it. It is what it is.

would you expect a player to say any less about their boss?
Wait till he's gone and you may or may not hear something else.

Much like you don't here Kessel or Sullivan bash each other. But they clearly didn't get along and now one is gone.
That's just the way it is.
Like I said, we aren't in there. But you can look at some of the things that have happened and piece it together. Like Dubinsky losing his letter. I think that really pissed off a lot of the vets. Foligno included. After all that use to be the core of the team there.
But it's really not worth arguing. You either see it or you don't.

“@aportzline: Just got an unprompted text from a #CBJ player, no doubt hanging at the family cabin in the Northwoods.

Two words:

“Love Torts."
