The big factor in this is the importance that Pietrangelo has a possibility of leaving. Parayko I have thought was better all this year. Parayko now is even more untouchable than last now that he might need to take Top line minutes.

Both trades proposed are bad for the leafs in my opinion. Nylander May be needed to play centre if we have any injuries. Then adding Dermott and a 1st for 3 years of Parayko. If the asking price is that high the leafs will not be interested. I’m not saying that it wouldn’t be.

Dude read the description I know lol. But Nylander was on road to be a top line player prior I’d think (I once again do not like Nylander Or the leafs). I’m thinking the blues would rather Matthews but idk if Toronto would trade matthews. Marner - Parayko I can see getting done but if I’m the blues GM I want a kicker as well cause I gotta take that 10 mil blow and completely change up my team but I also think marner is not worth his hit so why bother.

The F. I don't know much about Parayko but how is that not an overpay? Nylander is a potential 70-80 point guy; Sandin is making the team as a teenager; Bracco was second in scoring last year in the AHL; Kapanen could be a top 6 RW; a first AND a second? No way. Parayko is 26 signed for three more years. All 4 players mentioned are 23 or younger and will be significant pieces for the next 5+ years assuming none are traded. When was the last time you saw a solidifed top line winger, a team's #1 defensive prospect, a team's #1 offensive prospect, another top 6 winger, a 1st and second round draft pick in exchange for anyone?

That’s why I said it’s iffy. It is an overpay. But Parayko is easily a top defender in he league. As @Bcarlo25 said it Realistically should be marner or Matthews. Marner is a better suit but I think his cap is not worth it for the blues. But marner for Parayko is a fair swap. So than Matthews is your next choice but Matthews is a non starter really. So unless toronto is willing to give marner + a kicker for Parayko than it wouldn’t happen.

It's not iffy, it's not even close. No GM would sacrifice 2 roster players, their top 2 prospects, and 2 top draft picks for someone older and signed for less term. Marner is also 4 years younger than Parayko, which is reason enough for Toronto not to do it, let alone an additional "kicker"

Marner isn’t as individually as good as Parayko so it’s reason enough to not do the trade. If you honestly think marner > Parayko than ?
