I get that Colorado is super deep on defensive prospects, but wow this is a terrible trade!

This is a downgrade in terms of sheer value for COL, but it does fill a position of weakness. Meloche was never going to have a future with the Avs playing behind EJ, Makar, and Timmins, plus theres tons of competition from LHD too. The Avs depth in net is very thin so I guess bolstering that a bit is one good thing about this trade

@Mr_cap remember when Meloche was supposed to be a future COL defensive staple? Those were good times...

Great move by Doug. Bibeau was behind Shortridge and Korenar on the depth chart and had no future left in SJ. The defense prospect isn’t an area of need necessarily but it’s a good move to pick up some value for someone who’s ran his course in SJ

Meloche becomes like a 92 overall in NHL 15, so, I think I we know who won this trade.

Both teams got pieces in positions for which they have extremely shallow depth. Not that either of these guys are going to have a big (or any) impact in the NHL, but both teams just needed bodies in those roles at this point.

I liked Bibeau as a Marlie and his brief time as a Leaf. Thought he had NHL potential. He's 25, maybe a late bloomer as a goalie. He'll do just fine in the AHL, just unknown if he can ever be NHL good.
