LINEUP BY MIDYEAR

Created by: Bluejackets2000
Team: 2019-20 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 27, 2019
Published: Sep. 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Merzlikens will need more time in AHL to develop, he is not NHL ready. The Jackets will have difficulty driving play from center ice, and thus have difficulty scoring. Texier will thrive at 2C and Foudy, when healthy, will be given a chance at C and take over as 3C. It will be a genuine youth movement and rapid rebuild by mid-season. If no injuries on "D", expect one or two D men to be moved, particularly Murray if there is any value there due to his history of injury. I have Murray on LTIR because that is most likely where he will be. Gavrikov looks ready, Peeke probably needs a year at AHL level. Wennburg would be traded by mid-year except for the fact the Jackets need him to stay above the cap floor. Prediction - 6th in division and 10th in conference by year-end.
JUST CURIOUS.....On a team that looks like this one below, if 2 or 3 of the higher salary guys go out with injury (IR), and they do not have enough salary in the healthy players in the organization to make the cap floor? (Due to injury)?

This is pretty good. I think you can get DeSmith way cheaper than that. Waaaaay cheaper. Like.... Offer Kivlenienks and a 3rd. Pittsburgh has to decide whether to waive Jarry of DeSmith, and they know one will get claimed somewhere. The offer just has to be enough to make them shrug and go with Jarry, for you to get DeSmith without Florida or Colorado getting a crack at him.

LOL. Real fan. Here from day one. Moved to Columbus Dec. 1997. From DC area. First hockey game was in 1975 in Landover MD, watching a new expansion Washington Capitals team crap all over themselves their first year in existence.
There is too much youth, too inexperienced goaltending, and too much pressure on the veterans. Torts has already stressed they will be collapsing into a defense first mode to protect the goaltenders. This will hamstring both the vets and the rookies, and goals for will very low this year.
Until the young guns start scoring. And they realize they have to open play back up.
Look at Minnesota, this is their model of play, since day one. Very defensive oriented, not very fun to watch, and only moderately successful in making the playoffs.
But hey, I will continue to watch and support, because it’s what I’ve done for the last 2 decades.
