there is a player named Matthew Peca

plus there could be a better centre on the FA market

you obviosuly dont watch hockey just the 1 NHL team you cheer for

Evans is a stud and has been since we drafted him at the NCAA and AHL level .

you look at his stats and see 45 points in 67 games and go '' big deal''
you ignore after last camp he was concussed coming back in November gradually working his way back into a AHL role .
his first 20 games he had like 2 points but by end of Christmas Break he was the top skating forward in Laval scoring almost a point per game after that .

fast forward to this year where he lead all drafted players by MTL in scoring the first 4 games before being sent down .
he posted 2 goals, assist in 4 games with a point per game in each of the first 3 before going pointless vs TML in game 4.(best line though)

Evans is a Stud but we're developing him at Center and to be honest his Win rate was 40-43% so depsite his offense with Kotkanemi and Domi at Center we need a 4th Center like Thompson to take 1000/5000 plus Faceoffs MTL averages. Thompson can do that at a 55% win rate so Evans lost the job because we saw no value in testing him at Wing like we did Suzuki because like Poehling we intend on him playing in the middle because they made their names in College as Possession forwards and will adapt to the NHL faceoffs becoming reliable Centers for years to come .

Evans is a Gallagher type who scores best on hard work and deflections infront of the net
those types of players should never be underestimated .

now come 2021 will Evans be a 4th Center ?
i think he will after Coach Bouchard helps him with his faceoffs as its the single reason they cut him .

if Domi and Kotkanemi were winning faceoffs like Danault 1800/5000 faceoffs a year with 53-55% win rate then Evans would be starting and we'd figure it out on the fly like Domi and KK.

that being said 3 new Centers is to much , last year until we got Thompson 1/2 faceoffs was taken by Danault as he was double shifting on and off the ice for basically all Defensive Zone Faceoffs .

this year i expect Danault to even out around 1500 because with Suzuki , Poehling and KK all making opening roster they should be handling 1st and 2nd PP as Danault has less points on PP in his career then Drouin had assists last year alone . Danault is one of the top PK players and one of the best 5v5 2 way centers MTL's developed in a long time but he doesnt belong on PP but he wins faceoffs so he is .

by 2020-21 most of this issues will be sorted
Danault i believe will end up being re-signed to a deal matching Gallagher's new deal at Tatar,Petry and Armia's expense

Danault with a more Mature Mature Domi followed by Kotkanemi and Poehling
i think the only way Danault goes is if both Domi and KK hit over 1000 faceoffs this year with a 50% win rate or higher
then we'd sell high on Danault

Petry will be like 33 turning 34 , in what world is signing him even an option over Danault who will be 28?
keeping an Aging Gallagher is one thing but Petry is a non starter given our RD depth (fleury, brook, juulsen, and harris)

Fleurys ready now ,Juulsen and Brook by the time Petry's UFA will have given MTL more reason to move him then KK or Poehling will moving Danault
Domi would have to have a top 10 NHL finish in faceoffs Won and Taken like Danault did last year to make this even an option

MTL averages just over 5000 faceoffs a year
what you're asking would deffinately crush these players the same way MTL did Galchenyuk at Center and every other prospect who's tried since Koivu took over top 6 Center in 1998

laugh laugh Trading Drouin for a pending UFA makes absolutely zero sense, Besides just trading for a players rights doesn't mean you can give that player an 8 year deal. And Hall wants Panarin money so you're at least $2 million under his asking price.
