I think Rantanen is getting more than 10 million. I would be surprised if he took more than 500k less than Marner

The break down.....Aho and Marner have a combined total different of 20 points different over their ELCs and very similar PPGs....why is Marner the comparable. Its something like 8 more points a season worth the 2.5m different in how much more Marner is being paid?

Nah Marner is not the comp contract wise, he got over paid bc the leafs got scared they were going to have another Nylander situation on their hands. He may be playing that card now bc the leafs messed this thing up, so more work to do.

I assume Mikkos camp was waiting for Marner contract to happen, didn't think leafs would actually cave for his 11m ask, so the middle ground bw the avs and rants become harder bc the over inflated top end stalled things.

aho signing that offsheet, created a low bottom line comparable that they were working against all offseason. a 2.5m difference gap in September, more work to do to meet in the middle
