Honka

Created by: GenericUsername489
Team: 2019-20 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 28, 2019
Published: Sep. 28, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Somehow Honka is the last RFA without any form of contract and he really doesn't seem to want to be in Dallas. Eller is on 3rd line because he needs a chance to produce so they ship him out later in the year and Dowd can move into that spot. Also gives Dallas a little bit more needed depth on the front end.

I mean I think Siegenthaler needs more time to develop in Hershey but he'll probably get a few games while Kempny is injured even if this trade were to happen. I mean this trade never happens but I think it makes sense for both sides.

I'd love to get Honka, but the issue is he has no space to play this season. Though there would be room next season once Gudas leaves.

I didn't just make Honka be worth $800k for the sake of this trade. I can't see him getting more money on a longer term after the season he just had. He has to go year by year at this point imo if he wants bigger money and role. I see Eller being shipped to a bad team for a cheaper option this year even if it is at a premium. Hathaway is also expendable and has value for other teams like Dallas which opens the space for a 22 man roster. And, Hershey isn't that far from D.C. so call-ups won't take very long to bring in if needed.

Don't think Eller is moved anytime soon. Don't have a 3C option ready. Maybe Pilon or Sutter but that isn't definite. It's much more plausible that one of our LHD are moved, but not until next summer.

I think Dowd can be moved up to take the bigger role and Boyd would take 4C. Eller could be traded for cap space and a bottom 6 winger or if Stephenson shows up at some point this year, he can slot in on the 4th line. Also, Orlov's contract is bad and would hopefully be moved but getting him to waive his NTC could be hard.

1) Dowd is good 4th liner but he isn't a 3rd liner.

2) Orlov's contract is amazing. He isn't going anywhere unless he has a really really really bad season this year.

3) You don't need him to waive anything. His NTC is only a 5 team no trade list.
