HEAR ME OUT FIRST .. veteran with reasonable 4 year 12M contract .. LH shot .. so why? .. Colburn Sergachev Shatterkirk Rutta in last year(s) and only Cal Foote a RD on horizon from minors. ALSO could allow for Mc Donough to be exposed in 2021 for Seattle. So strategically on paper this not a bad move. Financially sending back a D or 1M prospect type makes money work for 2019 and beyond pretty easily. Only question to me is performance.. is Johnson toast?

It's still too much cap for his value on the ice. McDonaugh can still be exposed whether Johnson or any other LHD is on Tampa. Actually Tampa would probably like McDonaugh being exposed and claimed so they get 6.75m additional cap.

Why would they expose McD? Just protect Hedman, McDonagh, Sergachev

considering the lack of any physical play from TB last year when it counted. It might not be that far fetched of an idea. At least he'll hit something on the ice hard. More than we can say for the rest of the team.

Yes physicality.. on Seattle.. Cal Foote will have be be protected in 2 years ..AHL years count .. so Mc Donough COULD be issue.. I prefer he stay as contract OK and he still shut down
