Still a cap hit that most teams don't need (and there's no guaruntee that Seatle will take him. Also teams need actual defensemen not players who are horrible at defense, unless pittsburgh really makes it worth their while, I see no reason a team would take the cap hit.

you aren't selling 4 years, you are selling 2. And it doesn't even have to be 3+, he can be sent down to AHL for 2 million.
2x2 if there is no need for him.
You act like it's an arm and a leg.
You have listened to too many internet trolls.
There are reasons there are multiple teams willing to trade for him. 1st teams have need for defense and it's always in demand. Second is the salary isn't all that bad for the risk.
They swallow 2 years, one way or another. He goes to Seattle, Seattle buys him out at 1 mil a year for 4 years and gets a pick to keep off the other teams players.
It's not rocket science. People make this more than it is.

lmao what are you talking about teams interested in trading for him? There has been zero serious interest
The facts speak for themself. Columbus has gotten fairly adept at scouting, drafting, and talent management over the last few years, and they gave up on Jack Johnson for a reason. They could see his decline in the last 2 years of his CBJ contract, and Columbus also has a glut of NHL capable defensemen now (in my opinion, CBJ should and probably will be trading 1 or 2 this upcoming season). But back to JJ,
I really like the guy, and he did have some difficult personal problems in the recent past, but Pittsburgh never should have signed him. Even Adam McQuaid was still out there at the time and was/is unsigned. He would have been a better option. But paying someone to take Jack Johnson off your hands would be too expensive, especially for a Pittsburgh team that really needs draft picks since their core group of players are reaching the peak of their playing career (aging rapidly).
Carrying a $1M+ buyout charge for 8 years is nothing in today's NHL (relative to paying someone to take him), especially for a team like Pittsburgh that has the attendance and the money to absorb it.
Even teams that are desperate for quality D men haven't acted yet, because they know that JJ is more of a liability than an asset on the ice.
