Here are mine:

San Jose claims Casey DeSmith if Florida doesn't.

Anaheim claims Steven Santini. But then again, I thought Anaheim would claim Roland McKeown.

What are yours?

DeSmith seems like a solid #2. I'm a little surprised PIT waived him instead of Jarry.

I'm particularly surprised that Nashville waived Santini. He must've had a very disappointing camp. I thought he was a solid 6th or 7th D.

Don't need goalies though. My guess would be ho sang if none of the other top 5 waiver ordered teams claim him.

I think some of today's guys will get claimed. Idk who will claim them but i'd say Baertschi, Spring, DeSmith, and Djoos are the most likely to be claimed. Maybe everyone clears, though. Who knows?

I'm still shocked that both Roland McKeown and Charlie Lindgren passed through.

I think Anaheim should have taken McKeown and Winnipeg should have taken Lindgren. You can't tell me that in two years, if not sooner, McKeown won't be better than Korbinian Holzer and meanwhile, the Jets are short at least one goalie in the system.

Yep. Skated right through. It's not as if some teams don't need RD depth (Anaheim, LA, Las Vegas, Toronto, Winnipeg . . . )

nobody gets claimed. NHL GMs are all scaredy-cats that find any excuse not to do their job. plus, old boys' club, yadda yadda yadda.

Quick Question: If you pick up a player off waivers do you have to place him on your NHL roster and keep him there? For example, if NYR claim Sprong must they keep him on their active roster, or otherwise place him on waivers themselves?

yes, which is why the majority of guys didn't get claimed yesterday. you have to be pretty certain that you a) want their contract and b) want them in your 23-man roster.

What I think SHOULD have happened with waivers

Sprong - San Jose
Forsberg - Toronto
Goldobin - New Jersey
DeSmith - Columbus or Florida
Djoos - Winnipeg

I see why they got passed on, but I find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be a spot in the top nine for Sprong in San Jose. I think Forsberg is a better backup than Hutchinson at the same salary, New Jersey could use the depth with Goldobin, and both Florida and Columbus (even San Jose for that matter) could've gone used DeSmith as an upgrade to Montembeault or Korpisalo (or Dell). And Djoos is certainly a better option than Bitetto or Poolman in Winnipeg
