This is just a minor deal to adjust both teams' contracts. I think Vancouver would like to clear at least 1 contract out of their 50 to create space for potential waiver claims while the sabres can use an extra minor league forward, hence this trade.

Thompson will score 30 or more goals in Rochester this year.
Buffalo has at least 7 players better than Boucher.
Jasek has not demonstrated that he is good Junior, AHL player.
The remarkable part of the trade is that you want to dump contracts then you ask Buffalo to add a pick to make that happen.
In case if you have not figured this out, Buffalo would say no to this trade.
