Spit balling

Created by: ChiHawk

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2019

Description
Just spit balling here...if William Nylander has a decent year, why not use William and Alex and get the best out of them?

In seriousness, Michal Teply is looking like a very solid addition. I could see Saarela, kurashev, Hagel and Teply battling it out for a roster spot or two next year.

It would be best to delete this before leafs fans lose their sh*t (again). Unless Nylander has another terrible year (reaching cap dump status for them), leafs fans don’t want to hear anything about this trade.

If Nylander puts up a 17/18 season then I get it, but if he puts up a 18/19 season they can kiss Matthews cheeks!

I tried to reason with them awhile ago with this trade exactly, nothing had changed since then. It would be cool to have both brothers playing on the same team/line, but it’s far fetched at best, and I’m not sure it is best for the team.

Don't disagree...spit balling like I said. The Leafs do need to sign 5 defenseman next offseason though. Murphy is a real play if indeed Boqvist and Mitchell are ready as suspected. That pushes both Gus and Murphy out. If the Hawks miss the playoffs, I could see Gus getting moved at the TDL and Toronto would be a great system for him. Not that it would return Nylander as if he's back to 17/18 form they need him, but never know.

Yeah, that trade makes a lot of sense for both teams when you look at it closely.

As for the Gus situation... I would honestly sell him at TDL even if we’re in the playoff hunt (short term success be damned). I would love to get one of Tampa’s first round picks, or even Suzuki from MTL if that is on the table.

If we're in the playoff hunt there is no way they move Gus, otherwise I'd agree move him. If MTL is in the playoff hunt, Gus for Suzuki could be very interesting.

Shattenkirk might bounce back with the stability of Tampa around him. An RD group of Sergachev, Shattenkirk, CIrrelli could make this a rare year they aren't looking for another one at the deadline.
