You arent getting the first rounder and keeping Hall. He will not tolerate another year of his prime wasted on tanking. Devils need to make playoffs

Probably true, but its possible they could win the lottery as a team who came just shy of making the playoffs.

I think it's a little different.
Its being reported that Hall has given his approval to start negotiations with Shero, so I don't think it's far off. In one scenario he signs, the only way this happens if they are bad and win the spot with ato of Hall #1 lotto luck. Not happening imo.
In scenario two, negotiations break down and both groups decide its best he move on. Again not happening imo.

Its the fact that NJ already has had 2 1st overall plus Hall. Therefore adding Lafrieniere would make 4 1st overall picks.. So no, its not the same with every team
