Enjoy paying $56 million for Trouba. It will be interesting to see how he fares without Morrissey bailing him out for his mistakes.

I'd much rather see Howden on the third line, and Lemmy moved down so it's Lemmy - McKegg - Fast as the 4th line... Howden and Lias don't fit the 4th line, but all the projections are showing one of those two on the 4th line center -_-

Ironically they send down Fil and Krav so they can get "top 9 minutes" but keep putting Howden/Lias on the 4th line...

It may not look like it right now but Winnipeg might end up winning the trade. Not only did they get Heinola who looks like a future stud on the blueline, they got Pionk who still has decent second pair/2nd pp potential while all the while they didn't have to pay Trouba a monster 8m a season.

I can imagine that 29 other teams called Chevy and asked what it would take to get Trouba. Chevy would have told them about Kurt Overhardt's $8M/season stance and they would have had a good laugh, set a golf date for the next GM meeting in Florida and wished each other well.

Sounds like Smith will dress & play 4th line RW/LW & 2nd PK Unit on Def.
& Howden playing 3C (or at the very least playing with those line mates, i would not be surprised if the 3rd & 4th lines see a very similar TOI.

So:
Panarin - Zib - Buch
Kreider - Strome - Kakko
Namestinkov - Howden - Quickie
Lemieux - Andersson - Smith

SKjei - Trouba
Staal - DeAngelo
Hajek - Fox

"Brendan Smith practiced on Tuesday as a forward, but when it came to penalty kill, he went back to his natural spot as a defenseman. That is part of the plan, and part of the reason Smith made the opening-night roster"
