Toronto's 1st unit of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Rielly, and Barrie is better than this. Still good though

None of these units have a 50 goal scorer. Lol at Buffalo it'll be good but not in this conversation.

Chiasson is on this unit, doesnt matter if there is one 50 goal scorer on it or not. They have 3 players on this whole forward core and a bunch of waiver wire pick ups or experiments...plus klefbom is running it. Hes not to scaring anyone as the D threat

Chiasson is the net front presence, he's there to clear the crease and tip in pucks. Klefbom has the one-timer threat you don't exactly need him distributing the puck when you have Connor McDavid on the ice.

You're right, none of those teams have a 50 goal scorer. However, since you want to bring last year's stats into it here are the stat totals from each team's top PP unit listed in this thread.

**Makar and Olofsson didn't play a full season last year so I used his nhl.com projection from this year (49 & 44).

TBL: 128,98,92,54,47 = 419

TOR: 94,88,73,72,59 = 386

EDM: 116,105,69,38,28 = 356

COL: 99,87,75,49*,44 = 353

SJS: 83,74,70,66,45 = 338

BUF: 82,65,63,44,44* = 298

Keep in mind Karlsson only played 53 games for SJ last season and they're only 18 points behind the Oilers..

Klefbom had 1 pp goal last year. one timer threat.

Oilers have 2 elite players on their PP, 1 really good one in Nuge then the rest fall off a map when comparing the quality to other top units. Chiasson doesnt add to a pp bc hes skilled or bc hes a net pressence? They legit have no other options with how bad that roster is built

The teams you are disputing, Avs, Leafs, tampa, sharks, etc all had better team pp% than the Oilers. and thats with a 50 goal scorer. Anyway you look at it, players or team conversions %, Oilers dont even have close to the top pp unit in the league

Edmonton had the 7th best PP in the league last year by GF/60 and the 9th best by PP%. What changes are there that indicate they'll improve drastically?

(And please don't tell me they were 2nd in the league in the preseason, that doesn't translate into the regular season.)

So Ovi, Backston Carlson Kuzy and Another would be better...
Skinner could be a 50 goal scorer if our ppl works out, Eichels passes are v good and enters the zone better than almost anyone...Dahlins better than Klefbom...Reinhart is Huge just better and Ollofson is a goal threat with a lethal shot and good hands and pass...

Nugent-Hopkins is an elite player on the PP. His P/60 at 5v4 last year was 31st in the league, ahead of "elite" players like Marner, Gaudreau, Eichel and Aho.

Chiasson's G/60 at 5v4 (2.61) was viturally tied with Laine's (2.62).

Edmonton was the 6th in the league by G/60 at 5v4 last year. Colorado was 11th.

this is nothing to do with Avs PP is betteror not than the Oilers....and to the point you just made...best PP in the league. Like yuo are showing if you look at G/60...another stat showing its not.

Top forwards by P/60 at 5v4 last year, and their league rank:

TBY: 28.2%
2. Kucherov
7. Stamkos
11. Miller
13. Point

FLA: 26.8%
9. Huberdeau
24. Trocheck
27. Hoffman
46. Barkov

BOS: 25.9
1. Pastrnak
3. Marchand
5. Bergeron
77. Krejci

WPG: 24.8%
16. Wheeler
59. Hayes
60. Scheifele
81. Laine

PIT: 24.6%
4. Kessel
8. Crosby
28. Malkin
107. Guentzel

SJS: 23.6%
25. Lebanc
39. Thornton
43. Pavelski
57. Kane

COL: 22.0%
19. Rantanen
20. MacKinnon
41. Landeskog
58. Kerfoot

TOR: 21.8%
12. Matthews
32. Marner
61. Tavares
87. Kadri

EDM: 21.2%
6. McDavid
18. Draisaitl
31. Nugent-Hopkins
48. Chiasson

I would say these numbers show that EDM's 1st unit is top-3 in the league but their 2nd unit drags the average down to 9th best conversion rate and 7th best GF/60 in the league. Could the top unit elevate to 1st in the league? It could, but likely won't until Bouchard gets the job.

Only TBY and BOS had a better 1st unit than EDM, as measured by P/60. See my post above.

Toronto's top unit wasn't as good as Edmonton's top unit last last year, as per post #18 above. Will Barrie elevate that unit beyond what Kadri did? It's doubtful.

Over half way through the season and the Oilers have maintained the #1 spot. Safe to say you were wrong.
