Wish they'd both play, send Sandin down to Marlies.

Why, Sandin is better then both of them. He looked in control last night and even got an assist. He is way better then Holl or Marincin and will start to get more minutes as the season goes on

Why? Sandin is better than both. He's also better than Ceci. Sandin is going to get more and more minutes and I bet he'll be a key piece come playoff time. If he's ready, why make the team worse by sending him down to the farm?

Guess how many minutes Sandin played last night, against a lottery team.

That's why.
He needs to play and grow, he can do that playing 20+ with Marlies.

He played less than 9 minutes although, one must also understand that with all the powerplays in the game it did limit his 5v5 minutes. He looked good though, and I'd wager he's going to take minutes away from other guys the more he plays. He's already better than Ceci but throwing him into top pair minutes is likely too much right now but I doubt that'll be the case for long.

So maybe he will get up to 12?
Still not enough, send him to Marlies.

It'll be like Dermott was, get more and more minutes. I bet he averages 17 by christmas.

17 minutes for 3rd pair D?
No chance, be at least realistic.

Why not? What is Sandin right now? He's loads better than Marincin or Holl. And probably better than Ceci is right now. As he gets more comfortable, take minutes away from other guys and give them to Sandin. Leafs need offense put Rielly and Sandin to get Sandin some extra time. Babs has already said he doesn't get phased at all when he is on his off side. If Rielly get's 21 minutes and night and so does Muzzin. Simple math leaves Sandin with 18 minutes a night. Some nights you'll see Rielly and Muzzin play more, but on other nights depending on the situation you can give them extra rest while riding Sandin out there more. What do you want? TO to give Rielly and Muzzin each 25 minutes a night and the 3rd pair 10 mins? Who's being realistic here? Who's being pessimistic and now clearly just exaggerating to support a flawed argument. If Sandin struggles then send him down, if he doesn't give him more minutes and responsibility. He's going to need to play a much bigger role next season, why not give him a season where he doesn't have to be a top 4 guy to get acclimatized. Next season he may need to be a top 4 by default.

The veterans need to play and get to used to each other.
I agree he needs to play a bigger role, next year.

Only way Sandin is top 4 next year is if we strike out in UFAs.
Not impossible but I'm holding on to hope we get someone to pair with Rielly whose RHD and not have to pair Dermott with him.

Even then, send Sandin down and let him play 20+ a game instead of maybe the 12, at tops, he gets with the Leafs.
