DeBrincat is at a .78 ppg
Marner is above a .92? (Can’t remember)

For now no. But this new contract is a steal and if he puts up 40 this year this kid really changes the field. He’s could be scary

Debrincat is the better goal scorer but Marner is the better player

Right now Marner. He kills penalties so overall a better player. I wish the Leafs chose him over Korshkov however.

Marner is probably better right now, but if Debrincat can be what he was last year, or god forbid better, that can easily change. Elite goalscorers are more valuable than elite playmakers, especially on the wings.

See, that depends if you're factoring in contract. If you want that factored in, Debrincat for sure. Without the contract... Marner. But it's close.

.929 for Marner. If you take Debrincat's year last year (76p in 82 games) and you make him a ppg player which isn't far fetched, that brings his PPG up to .85 and would be the same age as Marner.

Or if you removed Marners totals from last year, he's at .81ppg. close to Debrincat at .78. the PK thing probably puts mitch ahead. But if you factor contract... probably lean Debrincat.

Yeah I’m comparing them based off their skill level. I think if DeBrincat took longer term, he could’ve got more than Marner.

Yeach especially if Strome continues to evolve as a top class player like he was projected to be, DeBrincat can definetly score 50+ goals. Hawks offense is scary good.

Korshkov is a big body and maybe he can develop into a key depth player on this team but DeBrincat is obviously far better at this point. Would be difficult to fit him into the cap though.

I always find that last line funny cause having too many skilled players is never bad a thing. Worst case Ontario you move them for Cap reasons for even more assets. The Debrincat pick should haunt every GM that passed on him

I don’t disagree. They overlooked him for his size but he reminds me of a Theoren Fleury type of player. Quick, skilled and plays in your face. All the GMs overlooked Cole Caufield too.

Caufield went 15th overall. So it's hard to say they all overlooked him when he went in the upper half of the first round. But he's a more extreme example of Debrincat. Debrincat's goal and assist totals were split almost 50/50 for his junior career. Caufield has a wicked shot. But it remains to be seen if he can actually make plays in the NHL. Would have thought his assist totals be greater playing with the linemates he had.
