The idea is fine. But I think Edmonton would have to send a better prospect the other way.

Idk, the Oilers don't have many B+ level prospects, Ottawa has no need for Jones or Samorukov.

Benson, a 2nd and a 3rd? Trading our best defensive centre and our best defensive defenceman (who also plays fantastically with Chabot) is gonna hurt when we need defence, gotta give us someone worthwhile and not just picks

Well they're both pending UFAs and it's a tank year so picks are probably fine as a return

Each one is worth a 2nd on his own

Your opinion. Demelo has been solid in his last year and will go for a 2nd. Pageau has a history of elevating his game in the playoffs and an excellent defensive 3rd line centre. Tierney will also go for a late 1st at the deadline

Also false on the Tierney evaluation. I'm not saying these players don't have value but since all of their contracts are up this season and are depth players you're not going to get premium assets back unless the market drastically changes (like an insane amount of injuries hit league-wide at the rate Dallas is currently incurring them). Look at what the return was for Duchene or Stone last year. If Duchene only gets you a late 1st and B+ prospect how does Tierney get you a late 1st? The difference in value between those 2 players is not one Vitaly Abramov

More look like what Dzingel got. Everyone was saying he was gonna get a late 1st but he ended up getting 2 2nds which almost equals a late first. Tierney is similar to Dzingel except Tierney is an RFA and not UFA

I think the Dzingel trade should be seen as a cautionary tale for teams looking to acquire. No team should look to replicate it

I think with many of the pending ufas on contending teams, other teams will end up paying a bit more to acquire the limited ones.
