And that leaves just petro. Hopefully they can get a deal done with him. With so little cap space, i would assume steen could be bought out or traded this off-season.

I like Schenn and his AAV, but YOU CANNOT GIVE 8 YEARS TO A PLAYER EXITING THEIR PRIME - ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY AREN'T ELITE TOP LINE TALENT!

AAV is fine. Term is awful with the style he plays. Not too mention, what happens to Schwartz after next year? What does Dunn sign for? Petro? Parayko?

Only benefit is that I see Steen being bought out and Allen traded. Perron likely taken by Seattle.

Not just that, but play the type of style he plays means he's going to go downhill fast. David Backes anyone?

Schenn is only 28....yes 8 years is a long term but thats the only way to keep the AAV down...IMO, he is worth more than 6.5 but the Blues dont have the space....

Steen bought out, Allen traded. But how much will Petro want and for what term? Dunn still needs to be resigned after this season. Schwartz is up after next season. Granted, Bozak comes off the books then as well as Gunnar, but the term is big issue I have with the style he plays.

This seems like a very very bad deal waiting to happen.

Schenn is a good player, but he turns 29 before playing a single game on this deal. The AAV is ok, but realistically it's not really that low for a 55 point middle six player, let alone one that will likely be declining for most of this contract. Also, players that play a similar style of game to Schenn tend to fall off faster than others, so I think this is an awfully bad bet.

He is still in his prime and yes they can especially when the player takes a discount like that to stay with the team he loves. he could easily get Duchene money on the open market 8M.

A players prime is now accepted to be 23-26 with decline beginning at 28-30. He is very much exiting his prime. And no, you cannot give 8 years to a guy who will be 37 when his deal expires when he will fall off badly before that. Especially with his style of play he is just going to stop being good one day. This is a bad deal man.

Why do you hate/care about the Leafs so much? I swear every post I see you make is about the Leafs and/or their fans? Just ignore them...
