No Petro I assume

Description
Just curious their cap situation now.

So they could sign Pietro instead of Muzzin (call it 9 million instead of 6 and more term), but then they are spending a tonne of money on their RD, minimal room on their LD

Honestly I have Petro at 8x8. Could be doable and he is certainly worth it.

Yeah that's exactly what Carlson got, and they're pretty much the same player.

Agreed they are very similar players.. Carlson got 8 and that was what 2-3 years ago? So with the rise in cap and Petro being older I am guessing its a 9-9.5AAV at 5-6 years.

i think dunn will get at least 5m and likely only 3 or 4 years. he's going to angle krug's second deal as a comparable.

muzzin will have a lot of suitors, might drive up his value.

He is certainly worth it NOW. But these UFA deals can certainly bite in the ass. D tend to last a little longer than forwards (look at Burns still being a stud at almost 35), but still its a big risk.

Muzzin will be like 31, I suspect he may actually go high cap low AAV ala Stastny has done.

Agreed they are very similar players.. Carlson got 8.5 and that was what 2-3 years ago? So with the rise in cap and Petro being older I am guessing its a 9-9.5AAV at 5-6 years.

Carlson got 8x$8mil (in the second year of that deal now), and him and Pietrangelo have almost exactly the same career point totals. Maybe a bump up to $9mil a season because of some of the crazy deals defensemen have got since then.
LGBstl liked this.

We'll know next summer but IMO there are few teams that can afford to pay Pietrangelo 9m plus. And how many of those cap eligible teams are desirable for Pietrangelo to move his family to. St. Louis is still very much in the running for a hometown discount.
Don't know why folks think the signing of Faulk eliminates the Blues from trading him. There might be a team that would take Faulk, even if the return wasn't much to the Blues, that's 6.5m more cap for the Blues.

It was last year. Pietrangelo at the same cap percentage as Carlson is about 8.2
