Wow! Finally someone makes a trade for an appropriate return with this TOR offer. Not sure it makes sense for NYI to do it unfortunately

22.5 minute d men that are young don't get traded for a bunch of spare parts.
teams don't run with no scratches.
don't think teams should be banking on an 85 million cap.

Pulock might be the best Isles Dman, Yep sure he gets traded for one year of Hyman and an AHLer.

This is nowhere close to fair value. The Islanders aren't trading Pulock but the return includes Nylander.

I'd wager you are correct on the first half of that. The second half is a pipe dream though.

Bracco is an AHLer because of the depth ahead of him. I see him as a future 40 point player. 40 point player in Hyman plus a pick is a good trade for a top 4 dman.

I'd say most fans who aren't leafs/isles fans would agree pulock for Nylander is fair value. I still wouldn't want the islanders to do that trade, but it is fair.

That is because most fans who don't know wtf they are talking about value Nylander as much as a broken condom.

What about Muzzin? Traded for Grunstrom, 1st and Durzi, who probably won't make the NHL. I don't think Pulock is that much better than Muzzin.

Not far ahead of Muzzin, and trade value for Muzzin was not that much better than this deal.

Bracco is in the AHL because he isn't NHL good. The pre season showed it too. I know last year he finished second in AHL scoring. But take a look AHL scoring leaders, top 20 filled with AHL vets that failed in the NHL. Hey, as a Leaf fan, I would love to have Bracco as a "mini Marner", but the reality is he might never be a NHLer.

Imo Nylander is more valuable than Pulock, but the gap between them is significantly smaller than you're insinuating here...

Pulock is a top 4 Dman in the same way Muzzin is (different styles of play and usage but in terms of general ability they are similar).
Just because Pulock is playing on your 1st pair doesn't mean he is a 1d in the same way that Muzzin playing on our first pair doesn't mean he is a 1d. They are #3D. Nylander is a 1-2RW (and honestly he is a #1, but I lower it because of the aforementioned undervaluation of Nylander).

If you wanted a (roughly) 1-for-1 swap you'd get Kapanen.

Most of those veterans scoring high in the AHL aren't 22 years old. He's not Marner, but I still think he can be a top 9 forward.

I'm not overrating pulock, Dom Luszczyszyn from the Athletic explained pretty well in his season preview for the islanders on how pulock is a legitimate #1 D.

Again, if you're going by that then so is Muzzin. I'll take (was going to put something here that would be equivalent but Barzal is too much and you have nothing else that would be close).

From dom luszczyszyn (the athletic) : Pulock is a two way force and was a monster in the season's second half, really coming into his own as a legitimate No.1 defender. From January onwards, the Islanders had a 56 percent expected goal share with him on the ice, doing well with Pelech, but also showing off his offensive upside in the minutes without his usual partner, flaunting an exceptional 3.57 expected goals for per 60 rate, It was pulock unleashed and his further growth into one of the leagues best defenders could be what keeps this team on the right side of the playoff race.

Thanks, if I want to hear some random sports writers opinion, I can look that up myself.

He isn't a number one d man.
