Healthy Lines 21 man roster- Read Description

Created by: Russell_C
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 5, 2019
Published: Oct. 5, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Top 6 Defence is locked up:
Rielly,Ceci/ Muzzin,Barrie/ Sandin,Durmott OR
Rielly,Durmott/ Muzzin,Barrie/ Sandin,Ceci.

Top 9 locked up
LW- Johnsson, Mikheyev, Hyman
RW- Nylander, Marner, Kappanen
C- Mathews, Tavares, Kerfoot
4th line GUARENTEED: Trevor Moore

In order to stay cap compliant with a 21 man roster (While keeping all the names listed above) we need to maintain 2x 675K contracts on the roster. Enter Holl and Gauthier.

So,
4th line GUARENTEED: Freddy Gauthier
Healthy scratch: Justin Holl

So, players left to fill out that last 4th line spot MUST have a cap hit of 700K or less.
Spezza, Timashov, Aburg, Kossila, Gaudet all have cap hits of 700K or less.
I recon that Babcock goes for the Vet in Spezza, but could dependent on who can be sent down without waivers we could see some variance there.

Shaking up the lines for fun:
-Mikheyev learns English and is Babcocks new toy
-Durmott to top line, Ceci 3rd pairing
-Johnsson Kerfoot Kapanen 3rd line

I have been saying that all summer. Kap will look a lot better being a trigger man against lesser competition. And then some GM will think, I can get him for this young defenceman and make Kapanen our top RW and he'll score and then we upgrade the defence and put someone else in that spot and not miss a beat. Kapanen is great but also the most replaceable player in TO.

I do too, and I can certainly see how that's what we end up with by mid Nov once Hyman is back and Babcock fully embraces Soup Man as his new favourite toy.

Mikheyev looks great so far, imo. And Babs loves him. So , I can see how a reshuffling, once healthy, makes the top 9 even better. I think Russel is spot on with the forwards, lines 1 - 4.

I think the d are relatively set with

Rielly/Ceci
Muzzin/Barrie
Sandin/ Dermot

And I think poor Holl, for math reasons that Russell lays out, is the odd man out. Again.

Nah, I stopped praying along time ago and just trust that things will unfold as they should. You got to have some faith Trickster in a higher plan. In Dubas, Pridham and Shanny we trust..

Amen

Eh? Really? He's a year into the job and look at the roster we have this year and the core thats locked going forward. That's not bad progress at all, imo.

I'll give it to you that his approach of a super top heavy cap construction is unorthodox but you gotta appreciate his commitment to bet on his vision. Its gutsy, but give him a few years of rope before we start talking about firing him. If his vision brings us nothing but more heartbreak then he'll get canned. But so far so good, no?

On the verge, not there yet.
I'm sour about the contract given to Marner vs Rantanen.

They should have got the same deal.

Yeah, I agree with that. That contract is a magor overpay. It sucks given what the rest of the rfas took in.

But I still leave that mess mostly at Marner's feet for how his camp approached things. Anyways, it's done, and they all fit for a few years. If anything Mitch is going to need to play way above his head to earn that contract and keep us volatile leafs fans at bay from ripping him to shreds. It could be great motivation for him. So far, he seems to be approaching things that way. He looked great the other night.

I dunno. I think it's time to sit back and enjoy a drama free ride for a few months. But if you want to talk about firing Babcock, well, I'm up for that.. wink

Tricktster?! My man! That was some serious red meat thrown out there in an attempt to manufacture a leaf controversy.. and, nothing!? Have you not noticed how quiet leaf threads have become around here?

We. Need. Something. To. Complain. About.

I thought we had each other's back, dude? frown

Something Im "preaching" from the summer.....and Moore can defenitelly be better grinder in Tavares Line as Kapanen is and after Hyman back he can take that job from Johnsson in Matthews Line. That would give TML upper hand above all other 3rd Lines in the League currentlly i think.

Ppl are praising Mikheyev but i still dont see how hes better then Moore yet, kid despite his height has just put himself into second place among "grinders" in TML, which are all LWs while current setup of RW being "speedsters" ( fourth Line excluded but Bracco being as next in Line for that spot )
