secondary D options for next year

Created by: Trickster
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 5, 2019
Published: Oct. 5, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'd prefer say Hamonic but starting to sink in that so will alot of other teams.
So secondary options.

One of the following have to make the team next year including Sandin :

Liljergen
Hollowell
Duszak

And I like the idea of Gresis taking a deal similar to Talbot did this year.

Why would Muzzin sign a short term deal like that? In all likelihood this will be his last contract in the NHL. Especially if you consider the style he plays...he will not age well.

Muzzin will have alot suitors I fear.
We will not be able to match other offers unless he is dead set on staying to finish his career, would give him an 8 year or 7 year deal?

I would not for the reasons I stated above.

If Ceci plays okay all year, I'd offer the Gardiner deal.
3 orc4 years, 4.5 million per but only if hes plays okay... anything less and see ya.

Why do you think he's not going to age well?

I think Gudas would be a good DFD to get on a 2-3 year deal.

As others have said, he plays a physical style and generally players who play that way don't do well later in their careers.

Dont forget the mileage from playing with Kings in deep playoff runs.

Every year, teams spend too much of UFA's and it rarely works out.

I wouldn't pay Gudas 3 million a year and not for more than 2 years. Vantanen I think will get more than that and it won't be worth it. I'd bring back Muzzin if he was okay with shorter term and a decent cap hit but that's it. The rest will come from elsewhere

Muzzin will get 5 to 6 million per.
Which we cant afford.

I'd take Gudas at 3 million for 3 years, Demelo might cost less and would take him more for less money and term.

Vatanen, what he gets will depend on where he wants to be.
Hes been non playoff teams only since far, so let's wait and see.

Why would greiss take a paycut and guarantee himself a backup role? Especially if he has another season as good as last season was for him. He'll be looking for a starting job and a small raise with one of the teams that have no goalie. Like the devils, canes, flames, or blue jackets

How many starting jobs are up next year and how many goalies?
Greiss is going to be 34/35.

Father time comes for us all.

Talbot was too, and hes younger.
I dont think ots outside the realm of possibility that Greiss does what Talbot did.

Talbot was awful for 2 seasons when he signed that deal. Greiss hasn't been.

Too much imo for 1 D.
Unless your planning moving Hyman and Kapanen out for no salary back.

Not sure but Sandin, Liljegren along with Dermott are going to be important pieces with Rielly.
