Do you mess with the Kerfoot line to push Kapanen down

Description
Mikheyev has been the best none stud forward for the Leafs through three games (ie taking out Nylander/Matthews/Marner/Tavares) and frankly Moore has been damn good too. Mikheyev totally has earned more playing time. He's also a natural LW to Kapanen's RW playing on the left side.

Kapanen had a ridiculous gaffe that he'll have to pay for, but beyond that he has looked very Kapanen-ish on the Tavares line. His speed has always been noticable in a good way. I've seen him best icing's when they need a break, and force zone entries by pure speed. But his finish around the net is lacking. I have no complaints in his toughness or grinding mind you so he has actually replaced Hyman fairly reasonably, if a little more speedy and a little less grindy

The question is would you mess with the chemistry of Kerfoot's line

Yes. Moore has been great and playing with JT and MM shouldn't hurt him to much. They will have to break up that line when kappy is eventually pushed down when Hyman returns so it's best to get it over with and try to improve JT's line cause they haven't been good

Good suggestion coach. Mikheyvov seems to be a Hyman type...maybe with more offensive touch. Maybe Kappy is just more comfortable on the right side. Trouble is Babcock seems to set his lines in August, don't know if has the inclination to change.

As a habs fan, I agree with your statement on Moore and Mikheyev in the description. Habs were lucky to get a W last night, even though they showed resilience.

Your changes could be beneficial but if you could fine a replacement to Marincin, I think TOR would do better (he was notably bad imo). On this note, how's Holl vs. Marincin?

Neither is particularly good. They are what they are NHL/AHL tweeners. I hope Dermott replaces them when he's back and they keep Sandin up

The concept was wrong from the start....

Babcock seems wanted to have his best of the best in Top 2 Lines, but 2 spots for speedy wingers are already taken and Kapanen was never about grit and battling for puck but flying down the wing and shot in.....

Current setup of TML is LW being gritters, RW being speedsters and C being like finishers....so it should be

Grinder - Tavares - Marner......................Moore filling in till Hyman back
Grinder - Matthews - Nylander...............Johnsson till Hyman back, Moore demoted to this Line
Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen...................................defenitelly the most intriguing 3rd Line in the League and would proly have upper hand above all other 3rds
Mikheyev - Gauthier - Spezza...................................with Bracco knocking on door as speedy winger with the finishing pass

In 2020 Season Hyman proly gone ( if not this year ) and Mikheyev taking his spot....still dont see how ppl are putting Mikheyev infront of Moore, kid is suplementing his lack of height with double the work on the ice over everyone....

Switching between Matthews and Tavares line isn't a demotion. Mikheyev does not belong on the fourth line. He's looked great.

Kapanen is way grittier than you give him credit for

Yes that third line would be nuts

Demoted in terms of Hyman being that Line regular, i should write pushed down i guess, sry English is not my first language, been 25 years since my last lesson. As much as all of you are hyped about Mikheyev, quality wise hes still 4th LW in the Team, Hyman, Johnsson and Moore before him respectivly....for now

Kapanen might be grittier then i think but thats not his trait with the upside, its speed

hopefully Babcock will figure out the same and start thinking out of the box

I'm not convinced Moore is better than him at all. He hasn't outproduced him. Moore was an ahler 12 months ago and made the NHL as a fourth liner at the end of last year. Mikheyev was playing well in the KHL
