Not bad.

Now we just have to wait for Jackets fans shouting they wouldn't trade Seth Jones for Connor McDavid.

In no way is Nylander close to McDavid, so it is kind of a bad comment.

That being said, Jones is a top defenseman and Jenner is a solid forward, who are both on good contracts. Nylander's deal appears to be bad unless he turns his season around this year., Kapanen is a good speedy forward, Dermott had a good preseason but has not proved anything and Lilly is still young.

Problem is cap. Toronto is unloading cap and get some cap relief while getting the best player in this trade.

I could probably see something similar too this, only at a smaller scale involving one of CBJ's other D, but of course with less coming from Toronto's end as well. This trade on paper can be seen as a win for both, but to actually go through and do it is another story. On Columbus's side you give up one of the best D in the league, and a trust worthy forward, while on Toronto you're scarifcing a lot of depth which I'm not sure we have all that much left in the AHL to bring up other than maybe Bracco or someone like that. Nylander is a bit of an issue at the moment but not because he's bad, but rather he seems to have some good Chemisty with Matthews these first few games, so to split that up could really mess up Matthews production (all though I think someone like Moore could probably step up). It's clear the Columbus should try and build up a prospect pool but to part ways with Seth Jones would be way too difficult.(Maybe not Prospects but NHL ready young guys)
