Was what the deal was going to be? Dubas did better with Kerfy and Barrie. I'd take the better players and lower round pick being in win now mode. That being said, it'd be cheaper to re-sign Brodie than Barrie and Jankowski could still develop more.

Lines would be different, it would be:
Johnny = Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Kadri - Bennett
Mangiapane - Backlund - Frolik
Lucic - Ryan - Czarnik



Debatable, Barrie is 100% a rental for them and will never be partnered with Rielly. Toronto was looking for someone better then Ceci for that top pair. There was also a 3rd team involved in the trade retaining some of Brodies contract.

Basically Brodie is the better partner defense then Barrie and he wouldnt be a rental. Jankowski for kerfoot is a wash when you factor in contracts

tkachuk and kadri on the same line would be intimidating af two of the top 4 cheap shotters in the league on one line
