Nylander+ for Parayko. He's on a good deal for the next 3 seasons. Why would the Blues trade him for a good middle six winger, a washed up fringe guy, and a second rounder?

Ummm...quite the opposite. Take into account contracts and it's an even bigger issue. Take Nylander away from Matthews...he isn't worth $7M a year. I'd argue he isn't work $7M a year now. Parayko has a GREAT contract.

This isn't true either. Nylander IS a great player, but Parayko is top 5 at the most sought after position in the league, RHD, on a great contract. In trade value, Parayko is worth Marner, and the Blues should accept nothing less than that for him. This is why this deal could never happen.

Eh. Not sure I would agree.
Problem with this deal is that the Blues have young wingers they want to acclimate to the NHL level, and this trade prevents that from happening unless a forward or two is also dealt. Besides, Blues need young defensive prospects more than forwards.
