If the Sens want to have young guys playing, it's likely they would want to make a move to keep the same number of available roster spots the same.

They are also very clearly trying to save money this season, so in bringing in 3.25mil, the would likely want to have money leaving to keep their operating costs as low as possible.

Having your 13th forward, Mikkel Boedker making 4mil, doesn't make a ton of sense for a cash poor team. There's also the Pittsburgh situation, with Ottawa in a unique position to be able to help give relief in the form of a very affordable middle six centre in Chris Tierney. There are options that the sens may want to move on from for various reasons.

I saw some comments saying that the kids aren’t ready and didn’t look great.

So wouldn’t you rather mgmt be serious about development spending a few million on nhl roster filler so the kids can spend more time developing in bingo and not take a chance rushing them?

Although now if one of the kids makes serious strides it will be more unclear as to making room for one of them if they really deserve it. Shouldn't have 3 lines of "4th liners" stealing the role of the potential next superstar. Even guys like Balcers and Veranneau who seemed to have a steady role last year might not have a place now. I just think one of these guys is nearly on the out.

Oh for sure. There were a few guys the organization sees as on the edge of being ready. I imagine we'll see a few of these guys cycle through Ottawa early in the season to see if anyone sticks, but if nobody looks obviously ready to be there, there's no reason to force it. The only problem is, at this point they almost need a couple of young guys to stick, because there aren't enough spots for all the young guys in Belleville.
